The Chairman of the Governing Council, Holy Trinity Grammar School (HTGS) Old-Ife Road, Ibadan, Professional Remi Raji Oyelade has highlighted positioning, visibility and recognition as the bold steps that can make alumni association to be relevant and be a significant source of development for the school.

Oyelade made this known during the 2005 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Re-Union held at the school premises recently.
He said HTGS needed to be positioned and placed deliberately where it cannot be ignored, while visibility would follow when it is rightly positioned.

“To position the Holy Trinity upon the higher ground. To place it deliberately where it cannot be ignored.
Visibility will follow when you position right. But visibility alone is not enough, recognition is what comes, what gives visibility weights,” the Professor at Faculty of Art, University of Ibadan stated.

While admonishing the past glory of the school, Oyelade said the school was known for excellence and it paraded the best teachers in old Oyo State.
“There is a real tradition of excellence in this school, if you pass through this place, and for English, and you did not read “Essential of English Language” which many schools all over, many principals would recommend, it started from here. He continued that “…Many of our teachers were post, NTA took away our Chemistry Teacher because he was so brilliant….”

The Ibadan born professor then urged the leadership of HTGS Alumni to be all and doing as alumni is not only about contributing money or socializing.

“We are just flying with one wing, it is not only by contributing money that we develop this school as alumni, it is not only by socializing, by taking photos, by talking on WhatsApp and all of that, we need to strategize.”
He maintained that the school needed to strategize and come up with a proper data base of all alumni, even if the old student spends a year in the school.

The ceremony witnessed an electrifying atmosphere where members donned in their colourful attire to the excitement of visitors and well wishers.
The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of all members with a diverse range of activities, including traditional music and dance performances, elaborate costumes, and mouth-watering local and foreign dishes.

Members were treated to a dazzling display of colour and energy. The air was filled with the sound of drums and laughter, as participants and spectators alike immersed themselves in the joy and excitement of the occasion
