NCS Celebrates Kano Inmates Who Excel In NECO Exams

By Peculiar News

The Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command has congratulated 68 inmates who performed excellently in 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.

In a statement released by the Kano State Command’s spokesperson, Mr. Musbahu Lawan, the milestone is marking significant results of the state’s correctional center in education efforts.

He said the Inmates were fully sponsored under the Centre for Inmates’ Continuity Education, a brain child of Kano State Government, which aims to rehabilitate inmates through education.

He added that the milestone is in line with the broader objectives of the Correctional Service Act, 2019, which promotes the reformation and reintegration of inmates through academic and vocational training.

He quoted the Controller of the Command, Ado Inuwa, to have commended the inmates for their dedication, describing the results as a “remarkable achievement” that proves the power of second chances.

He stressed that the initiative was in line with the directive from the Controller General of Corrections, CGC Sylvester Indidi Nwakuche, who has urged correctional facilities across Nigeria to enroll inmates in educational and skills-based programmes to aid their reintegration into the society.

Chairperson of the State’s Prerogative of Mercy, Hajiya Azumi Namadi Bebeje, congratulated the successful candidates and commended Governor Abba Yusuf for his continued support of inmate education.

Hajiya Bebeje emphasised that the governor’s commitment was a reflection of his compassion and belief in human transformation.

Some of the inmates described their success as a “turning point” in their lives, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to pursue education despite their circumstances.
